Anathema

Oh you are secret
Sparkling water up to our necks
Black and gem
Moon making it ripple between
Cypress knees
Alone and unknown lover
I kiss you in these pools
Mosquito eaters
Dinosaur swimmers but they
Are asleep
And you are safe in my mind
Locked forever
Alone on the roof
Your ears glued
To the absence

In my mind there is an alabaster cathedral
In front of your house
Hay
Tall as a man
Surrounds it as a guard
And you said you loved it too
Photographed it too
And later that
It was sewage filtration
But who cares
People were over before they began
And the great collective dead
Are who we are and will always already be
So we made love anyways
And we’re happy anyways
We do it anyways
