“Looking at the photos collected here, instead of commentary I feel compelled to
offer advice: document your scene! Now! Whatever it is and whoever it’s comprised of, photograph the hell out of it. As a 20+ year veteran photographer and certified live music freak, I have what most people would consider a massive collection of photographs. But I still wish I had taken more.
“If you’re not already aware, allow me to break the news to you: with time (if you live long enough), the most important things in your life will fade away. Your family and friends, your scenes and subcultures, your favorite bands and venues will all slowly start to disappear. And so will your memories of them. So please: learn from my mistakes and capture your surroundings every chance you get. Record the moments and the people that make your life special.
“20 years from now, when you get a memory rush from stumbling on a long-forgotten photo that you took of an old friend who has died, or a photo of a once great band performing with sincerity in a room that no longer exists, you can thank me. Until then, leave me alone. I’ll be busy taking photos.”
