CAIN – A Ballet Opera
08:00 pmSep 11th
CAIN is a reimagined ballet-opera that will premiere at the Marigny Opera House in September – Program One of Marigny Opera Ballet and Verismo Opera’s joint 2026/2027 Season. The music is a resurrection of the 1707 oratorio "Cain, overo il primo omicidio" by Alessandro Scarlatti – one of the most celebrated composers of the Baroque era. This virtually unknown baroque gem will take on new life as a fully staged ballet-opera, reworked and directed by Verismo Opera founder and Marigny Opera House newly-appointed Executive Artistic Director Bogdan Mynka.
CAIN will bring together some of New Orleans’ finest dancers, designers, musicians, singers, and storytellers, as well as select talent from around the world: a live chamber orchestra made up of LPO and Delachaise Ensemble players led by early music specialist and harpsichordist Paul Weber; professional dancers of the Marigny Opera Ballet with original choreography by MOB Resident Choreographer Amalia Najera, costume design by fashion designer and this year’s Gambit 40 Under 40 winner Magdalene Paris, scenic design by Bethany Lee, and lighting design by Marigny Opera House Technical Director Tammy Srinivas. The show runs 90 minutes with intermission and will feature subtitles in English.
The live orchestra will feature leading members of the LPO and Delachasie Ensemble: Kate Walter, Gabrielle Fischler, Elizabeth Cunha, Sixto Franco, Jake Fowler, Russell Thompson. The opera cast features Haley Whitney in her Marigny Opera House debut playing the role of Eva; Steve Valenzuela, also making his Marigny Opera House debut as Lucifero; Claire Shackleton – who recently starred as Joan in Verismo Opera’s production of Maid of Orleans – as Dio; and director-producer-performer Bogdan Mynka as Adamo. The dancers of the Marigny Opera Ballet are Nyna Moore, Claudio Caverni, Caleb Chesson, Emma Courish, Kayla Estipular, and Talia Sigismondi.
The Marigny Opera Ballet and Verismo Opera have commissioned local painter, muralist, and printer Gabriel Flores to create an original hand-drawn illustration for the poster. The purchase of a VIP ticket includes one limited-edition, signed and numbered 24”x18” silkscreen print on archival French paper.

Open Mic Night with host Beth Patterson at Old Arabi Lighthouse
6:00 pmSep 13th
It’s been a long time since the purple sparkle floor has been graced by the great Beth Patterson and we are so glad to have her back. This will be her first time hosting open mic. Beth is one of the most gratuitously talented people we know; a multi-instrumentalist with a specialty in international disciplines (particularly in the Irish vain). She’s also a bit of a film star these days — if you saw Spinal Tap 2, that’s her in the celtic band that Nigel Tuffnel jams with. Beth has also made the Dr. Dimento playlist several times in her hilariously titled side gig, Bad Beth and Beyond. Do not pretend to know what Beth is going to do. Even Beth probably doesn’t know what Beth is going to do. But know one thing for sure: this is going to be a fun night.
Beth will play a set at 6, followed by open mic at 7. Each participant will get up to 15 minutes of undiluted fame.
All ages/no cover.
All of the events at the Lighthouse are free of charge, but while you are here, please consider making a small purchase to help support the venue so that we may continue to bring you free quality programming. And thanks as always for supporting local businesses!

Open Mic Night with host Joshua the Bock at Old Arabi Lighthouse
06:00 pmSep 20th
Old Arabi Lighthouse is excited to announce the return of Joshua the Bock to the purple sparkle floor. Joshua's talent is supernatural, his singing and playing as nuanced as it is fluid and infectious. Joshua writes songs of heartache and the universal difficulties of relationships, but always with a sense of humor. He's also one of the most engaging performers we've seen, his between song banter always funny and charming. In these difficult times, it's a good idea to surrender your soul to the music every now and then, just to stay sane. Let Joshua the Bock doctor your poor battered soul back into the world of the living.
Joshua will play a set at 6, followed by open mic at 7. Each participant will get up to 15 minutes of undiluted fame.
All ages/no cover.

BOB LOG III
9:00 pmSep 23rd
Bob Log III is a one man band slide guitar party. A perverse product of the Arizona desert, Bob Log III has been diligently travelling the globe since 1996, showcasing his incomparable talents and developing a devoted following along the way. A whirlwind of dexterous limbs and digits, this super star sonic showman has to be seen to be believed.
Clad in his cannonball man, extra tight jumpsuit and signature motorcycle helmet with telephone/microphone attached, Bob Log III unfailingly sweats up a river while kicking on a kick drum, stomping his homemade foot cymbal and playing slide on an old archtop guitar. His endless pursuit for musical mayhem and a downright party has seen his unique talents utilized for children’s birthday parties, obscure beer barns, mammoth music festivals and everything in between.
Yet, beyond these mesmerizing visuals, lies the true reason for Bob Log’s international cult status and superhero adoration. It is quite simply the guitar playing – finger picked lightning, sliding up and down, stopping when it wants to, then starting again when it feels like it, all in a way that makes people move uncontrollably, smile and reel.

VIDEO AGE: 10 YEARS OF “LIVING ALONE” with Special Guest RUI GABRIEL
8:00 pmSep 26th
VIDEO AGE: Video Age make breezy and timeless songs that are so ineffable, they can only be the result of a decades-long friendship and songwriting partnership. Across four albums, Ross Farbe and Ray Micarelli have gleefully worn their influences on their sleeve, writing inviting tunes that reference sounds ranging from disco to pop and indie rock. On their latest LP, Away From The Castle, the New Orleans duo have strayed from nostalgia and instead have honed their own unique musicality, making songs that sound like themselves with a taste of inspiration from classic singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s. The album is a testament to the possibilities that come from getting out of your comfort zone, the freedom of writing vulnerably and unselfconsciously, and the joys of getting to work with your closest companions.
RUI GABRIEL’S journey to become one of indie rock’s most vibrant and perceptive voices is certainly unconventional. Born in Venezuela and raised in Nicaragua, the now-Indiana-based songwriter spent his 20s in New Orleans and playing in beloved bands like Lawn, where he’s a co-songwriter and co-lead singer with Mac Folger. While that band finds the sweet spot between sing-a-long power pop and bracing post-punk, Gabriel’s solo debut Compassion uses a lighter palate that combines ethereal pop with ’80s synth textures, and slacker-rock charm. The LP is a testament to growing up and Gabriel’s disarming lyrical sensibility.
NOLAxNOLA26 PRESENTS: COMMUNITY with BRUCEY and THE SELF HELP TAPES
9:00 pmSep 26th
Local Rock Legends COMMUNITY headline this NOLAxNOLA26 Presentation!
Like so many bands of the time, especially locally, Community seemed to detest the catchall emo moniker. Despite their protestations, its hard not to make comparisons to some of the late 90s and early 2000s giants: the twinkling, sometimes frenetic jamminess of Braid, the melancholic guitar hooks of Sunny Day Real Estate, the lyrical catchiness of early Get Up Kids or Tuesday. Additionally, they seemed to share a bit of DNA with the post-emo indie bands of the day: the rock sensibilities of Burning Airlines or Jets to Brazil and even some vocal harmonies hinting at a touch of Pinback. And yet the end result seemed totally fresh. The band had a clear understanding of how to play their instruments and really dial in their live sound, a deep and skillful musicianship that made them stick out locally and stand head and shoulders with any professional touring act. Open Mic Night with host Kevin Comarda at Old Arabi Lighthouse
06:00 pmSep 27th
The Lighthouse is very happy to announce the return of one of our favorite local songwriters, Kevin Comarda. Kevin has been a mainstay of the New Orleans indie rock scene since the 2000s when he played bass in the legendary West Bank outfit known as Community. In more recent times, he fronts his own band, The Self-Help Tapes, which local label Strange Daisy has thus far released 2 LPs. Kevin's newer sound is dreampop but with a grounding in folk style pop songwriting. The songs are beautiful, and reflect Kevin's observations about life and love in the downtrodden modern era. Listening Kevin sing his songs just feels good. We're looking forward to his return, and we hope you will join us.
Kevin will play a set at 6, followed by open mic at 7. Each participant will get up to 15 minutes of undiluted fame.
All ages/no cover.
