Our culture has often cast Virgo as virginal in the Western sense—a feminine figure of service and purity, meant to take us out of chaos and toward the light. However, the Babylonian version of the Virgo archetype was more complex, a self-possessed leader who was revered for her power and wisdom. In Abrahamic religions, Lilith was cast from the Garden of Eden for having a similar obstinance. This month, Virgo will be embodying her fullest self as Black Moon Lilith (a mathematical point of an astrology chart representing the moon’s apogee), moving through the last degrees of Virgo’s fellow mutable sign Sagittarius. In addition, the new moon in Virgo on the 10th will coincide with Venus entering Scorpio, Mercury entering Libra, and Uranus starting its six-month retrograde in Gemini. These alignments with the new moon during a time when we might struggle to trust (Scorpio) or to be straightforward (Libra) point to both the betrayal of Lilith and the defanging of Virgo’s original Babylonian blueprint. Shortly after the new moon, Black Moon Lilith will enter Capricorn on the 14th—capstoning a nine-month cycle of exploring personal freedom and emotional sovereignty. The equinox on the 22nd marks the beginning of Libra season, followed by the full moon in Aries on the 26th, which will conjunct Saturn in Aries. Saturn’s influence over this equinox and full moon could mean that we will find ourselves simultaneously in the shallow and deep ends of a very muggy pool. May we meet this moment with a Capricorn-Lilith-coded strength it takes to swim through the muck together.
ARIES
This month, the sun will traverse your 6th house, urging you to stop pushing yourself. Summer in this city drains our bodies and spirits, and though September may bring some relief, the tension of hurricane season is unavoidable. Feeling burnt out or on high alert (or both) has the potential to fry your nervous system, so take deep breaths and prioritize your personal peace.
TAURUS
Venus’ movement out of Libra and into your sister sign Scorpio on the new moon on the 10th has the potential for both sensuality and destruction. Venus’ movement into your Scorpio-ruled 7th house might highlight your uncharacteristic intensity in relationships, and last month’s optimism in this regard could deepen or break, depending on how you navigated last month’s transit through Libra. Scorpio’s influence will bring necessary intimate conversations.
GEMINI
The 4th, 5th, and 6th houses speak to our family ties, sense of self, and health and virtue, in that order. Mercury will transit all three of yours before September ends, and you might find in the middle of the month you’ve built strength before hitting some potential roadblocks or burnout. Balance will be key this month, as the sun’s transit through your 4th house brings themes around family and home back around in more concrete ways than Mercury’s influence may inspire.
CANCER
Mars’ movement through your sign might dominate your life this month. Saturn, ruler of Capricorn, is moving through fellow cardinal sign Aries currently, and these two planets will make a dynamic but difficult aspect (called a square) to one another on the 1st. You will be asked to integrate the power of your emotions with the demands of your ambitions, which is no easy feat. Be brave and stay grounded.
LEO
Last season you began your new cycle around the sun, and this month you will find yourself self-protecting by solidifying some boundaries. A new lease on life may be hitting in waves, but Virgo’s rulership of your 2nd house sun transit could lead to some anxiety about what you want this next year to look like. What’s important this month is being decisive in a practical way.
VIRGO
Happy You season, Virgo! The spikes of fascism may feel sharp, but you are ever sharper. This season will invite you to use the weapons and tools in your arsenal to push back against the machine. Your ruling planet Mercury will leave your sign for your Libra-ruled 2nd house before entering Scorpio on the 30th. If you can balance (and communicate!) your desire for beauty and your demand for justice, this will be a very rewarding month.

LIBRA
As your cycle around the sun comes to a close, the sun in Virgo invites you to rest and reflect. Virgo’s rulership of your 12th house points to shadows regarding service, and you might find yourself examining unhealthy attachments to other people’s approval. You may often repress a more critical version of yourself in the name of social harmony. Focus on your inner harmony, and how sometimes saying no can be the source.
SCORPIO
Venus’ movement into your sign on the 10th and the sun’s transit of your 11th house could mean certain relationships are thrust into the public eye. Whether threatening or exhilarating—likely both—romance, creativity, and how public your proverbial freak is are likely to all come into play. Mercury will transit your 12th house until the end of the month, and you might struggle to externalize ooey-gooey parts of yourself until then.
SAGITTARIUS
Your ruling planet Jupiter has settled into its transit through Leo, and the urge to stay on the move will remain through the year. However, this month the sun will illuminate your career-oriented 10th house and ask you to lock in. Virgo and Sagittarius are both mutable—as earth and fire, respectively, their relationship can be volatile. Be dynamic and decisive, and the next year of Jupiter’s influence in Leo could provide the freedoms you seek.
CAPRICORN
What is your relationship to resilience? It can feel good to move through difficult chapters with determination, but Mars’ dynamic square to Saturn on the 1st might set a jarring tone for the month. These two planets will be in fellow cardinal signs Cancer and Aries, while Mercury completes a cardinal cross in the sky by entering Libra on the 10th. The full moon in Aries on the 26th could be pivotal to your long-term capacity for sustained action.
AQUARIUS
Fearlessness might not be a trait you automatically identify with, and you might be surprised how many people around you have that perception of you. As the sun transits your 8th house this month, you might have to face some of your deepest fears, and it could be helpful to seek external affirmation about all the incredible ways you have done so before. The sun’s movement into Libra on the 22nd will bring relief and hopefully a sense of internal safety.
PISCES
The tension between Virgo and Pisces, like any sister signs, can be both healing and damaging.
Virgo’s rulership of your 7th house means that relationships that require clarity help you grow as a friend and lover, but often trigger your default setting of ambivalence. Your nature might prefer more fluid dynamics and timelines. Virgo, in all of her self-possession, fields invitations for care and connection with a more rigid structure. Perhaps this month, seek the right middle ground for you and those you love.
